This series of 2D collages were made with decorative art paper, plain-colored paper, magazine clippings, circle stencils, a ruler, a pencil, a cutting mat, an X-Acto knife, a pair of scissors, lots of double-sided tape, a little glue and a bone folder. My goal was simple: to use nearly every scrap of paper I’ve been collecting but neglecting over the years. I loved the challenge of this limitation while creating these upcycled works of art. Otherwise, these unique shapes, colors and textures that came together so joyously with hours of undisturbed curiosity might’ve been trash. On the flip side came a tedious agony from a fixed, bent-over position, especially when dealing with the itty-bitty scraps that a sane person would blow to the ground out of existence.
